A mother and her adult daughter were left homeless by a fire Wednesday afternoon along a rural road in Greenfield about 15 kilometres northwest of Florenceville-Bristol.

Centreville Fire Department was called to the fire on the Back Greenfield Road around 2:30 p.m.  Florenceville-Bristol and Lakeville fire departments provided mutual aid..

No one was home at the time so there were no injuries from the blaze The house was destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A mother and her 21-year-old daughter are staying with relatives for now, according to Canadian Red Cross spokesman Dan Bedell. Red Cross volunteers are helping the pair with emergency purchases including winter clothing, food and other basics.
