The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested two people Tuesday and charged them with aggravated trafficking in heroin.

An investigation into suspects involved with the importation and distribution of heroin in Washington County was conducted by the MDEA agents with the Downeast District Task, said Commander Darrell Crandall.

Surveillance on a vehicle led to the Maine State Police assisting in making a stop on I-95 in Bangor. Six ounces of heroin was seized worth more than $56,000.

54-year-old Michelle Loud of Whitneyville and 27-year-old Christopher Disla of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania were charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin and transported to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. Bail for both is set at $10,000, Crandall said.

Also assisting in the investigation was The Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
