In U.S. District Court on Monday, a Mars Hill woman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute bath salts.

According to court records, between about January 2012 and June 2014,  Leda Giggey, 45, conspired with others in Aroostook County to obtain and distribute bath salts.

On multiple occasions, Giggey ordered bath salts over the internet from China for personal use and to sell to other conspirators.

The defendant faces up to 20 year in prison and a $1,000,000 fine. She will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency with assistance from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
