A Mars Hill woman is facing drug charges after a lengthy investigation.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has charged 44-year-old Leda Giggey with felony trafficking in the synthetic drug APVP, also known on the streets as “Bath Salts”.

The MDEA, along with Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations team, executed a search warrant Leda Giggey's Benjamin Street home on Friday, April 3rd.

Police were able to go undercover and purchase “bath salts” from Giggey’s home. Seized during the search was a small amount of APVP, numerous prescription pills, to include the narcotic painkiller Oxycodone, approximately $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds, along with other evidence of illicit drug trafficking.

Giggey was charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs and Class C Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs.

She was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton where she remains in custody pending the ability to make bail.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.
