Maine State Police say a 35-year-old North Carolina man wanted on an outstanding warrant in Texas was apprehended Tuesday night in Mars Hill.

Over the past week, State Police received information of a suspicious man who was possibly staying overnight at the Mars Hill waste transfer station. Troopers checked the area and observed personal items that were left in a trailer on the property.

Employees at the transfer station also reported that their equipment was low on fuel, indicating that someone was using the heater in the equipment to keep warm.

On Tuesday at around 9:00 p.m., Trooper Andrew Levesque was patrolling the area and located a man wearing heavy clothing on Mill Street in Mars Hill, near the transfer station. When Trooper Levesque asked for identification, the man produced a North Carolina ID card.

State Police say 35-year-old Jason Lopresto of Raleigh, N.C. had a full extraditable warrant out of Killeen, Texas with a $200,000 bond. The warrant was connected to an alleged sexual assault.

Lopresto was arrested and transported to the Aroostook County Jail where he awaits a court hearing.
