The Maine State Fire Marshals Office says an Oxford County man has died and a second was seriously injured when fire swept their home in the town of Mexico. The fire was reported at noon time today at 20 Brown Street in the downtown area, near University College.

Firefighters arrived at the scene with in minutes to find heavy smoke and fire at the two story house. One man died, a  second jumped from a porch roof, and third man escaped without injury.

Fire Marshals say the man killed is 45-year-old Dean Watson. His father, 83-year-old John Watson escaped without injuries. Being treated for smoke inhalation at Maine Medical Center in Portland is Thomas Brown, who in his 50s.

Fire Marshals say there were no working detectors and the fire started on a rear porch. The cause continues to be investigated
