A highway accident near Perth-Andover, New Brunswick has left one man dead and another man in the hospital.

RCMP officers responded to the crash site on Highway 2 outside Perth-Andover around 3 p.m. Monday.

Police say the driver, a 61-year-old Ontario man, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. His passenger, also from Ontario, was transported to the hospital in Edmundston. He is listed in stable condition.

According to the RCMP’s preliminary investigation, the vehicle went off the road and struck a guard rail.  The vehicle then rolled over before coming to rest on the roadway.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to have been factors in the fatal crash.
