The UMaine Black Bears rolled out to a 28-7 first half lead and then had to hang on for their 5th straight win, a 35-28 thriller over William & Mary.

The Black Bears forced a fumble in the last minute to stop a game-tying drive by the Tribe.

A Micah Wright 67-yard punt return touchdown in the 3rd quarter proved to be the game winner.

How close did this game turn out to be? William & Mary had 469 total yards of offense. Maine had 466.

Quarterback Dan Collins was 19-for-33, good for 280 yards, 2 TDs and an interception. He completed passes to eight different receivers.

Maine rushed for 186 yards but no player gained more than 60 yards.

The win gives Maine a 5-3 record overall and 4-1 in CAA play.

Next for the Bears, the nationally ranked Villanova Wildcats come to Orono next Saturday.
