A major winter storm from Sunday night through Monday night is expected to produce blizzard conditions in parts of Maine and New Brunswick, with significant snowfall and strong winds forecast for the entire region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from Kittery to just north of Caribou. A Blizzard Warning is posted for the Bangor and Down East regions with up to two feet of snow possible.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph in the Bangor area and up to 60 mph along the coast will produce significant blowing and drifting snow with whiteouts at times. Travel will become difficult if not impossible on Monday.

The winter storm warning extends as far north as Van Buren with over a foot of snow possible by the time the storm winds down early Tuesday morning. Snowfall totals are likely to range from 7 - 14" in the Presque Isle/Caribou area, but should drop off in the far north.

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Woodstock and Carleton County, forecasting up to 25 centimetres of snow and blowing snow during the day Monday. Blizzard Warnings are posted for the St. Stephen, Fredericton, Sussex, Saint John, Moncton and Grand Manan areas.
