Elle Logan and the United States Women's Coxed Eight team are heading to the finals of the event after posting the top time in Heat One on Monday.

The U.S. side posted a time of 6:06.38 in the event, besting the next closest mark by over three seconds.  The Americans won their heat, while the United Kingdom won the second heat of the day to also advance to the finals.  There will be a repechage for the five nations that missed out of qualifying on Wednesday morning at 8:50 a.m. for the right to join the two sides.  The finals will held on Saturday at 10:05 p.m.

Logan is looking to win her third Olympic medal after taking home the gold in the event in both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London games.  The 27-year old was born in Portland, but currently calls Boothbay Harbor home.
