The Bentley University Falcons are off to a hot start in the Division II season and three former Maine schoolboy players are a big reason why.

High school hoops fans remember Hampden's Zach Gilpin, Hodgdon's Chris Hudson and Houlton's Kyle Bouchard.

The three Mainers have helped the Falcons get off to a 5-1 start to the season, including a 3-0 record in the New England 10 Conference (NE10).

Gilpin was a four year starter for state champion Hampden Academy teams. Now a junior, he is averaging 12.5 points and four rebounds per game for Bentley.

Bouchard was Mr. Maine Basketball Award winner in 2015. He too is a junior and averaging six points, four rebounds and three assists coming off the Bentley bench.

Hudson helped Hodgdon High School win the 2014 Class D state title before moving on to prep school. He is now a sophomore at Bentley, averaging 10.5 points and seven rebounds a game.

The Maine to Bentley (Waltham, MA) pipeline has quite a history. Tyler McFarland from Camden HIlls HS graduated from Bentley in 2016 as the school's all-time leading scorer. MBHOFamer Charlie Wootton from Camden is 4th on the school all-time rebounder list. Other Mainers who have played at Bentley include Keegan Hyland, Gary Eckmann, Sam Leclerc, among others.

NOTE: Houlton HS senior Kolleen Bouchard has also committed to join the Bentley women's program for 2018.
