Honoring area Veterans, both past and present is what the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou is all about, and a flag raising ceremony will be held in the coming days to do just that.

According to Harry Hafford,Chairman of the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Corporation, thirty flags will be raising at the Avenue of Flags at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11th, 2015.

Twenty-nine of those flags will be raised to honor the memory of specific deceased Veterans and one will be raised to honor the memory of all deceased Veterans.

Veterans, their families and the public are invited to join together and attend the ceremony.

If you are a family member or friend of a deceased Veteran and would like to raise a flag to honor the memory of that deceased Veteran, you're asked to call 768-0525 to make arrangements to do so.

Once raised, the Flags will fly 24/7 through Veterans Day to honor the memory of the deceased Veteran it was raised for.

The Veterans Cemetery holds four services a year, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, POW/MIA Day, and a flag raising ceremony.
