Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 119 calls for service in and around Aroostook County this past week. Here are the incidents featured in their weekly report:

Incident Type: WARRANT ARREST Date: 9/17/2018 Town: WOODLAND Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli was investigating an incident in Woodland when he observed a vehicle pull into the driveway that Tr Pescitelli was at. Tr Pescitelli noticed that a male passenger seemed to be trying to hide his face, at which time Tr Pescitelli asked for his name. Tr Pescitelli ran the name given and could not find any record, so he asked the operator for his name. Tr Pescitelli recognized the name and the fact that he had once arrested the operator’s son. Tr Pescitelli told the male passenger he knew his true identity and arrested the 27 yo male on 10 outstanding warrants.

Incident Type: THEFT Date: 9/18/2018 Town: BRIDGEWATER Trooper: TR. SYLVIA Brief Synopsis: Tr. Sylvia responded to Bridgewater when a resident reported her marijuana plants had been stolen. The resident reported she had 8 marijuana plants stolen from buckets that she had growing in her back yard. The investigation is ongoing.

Incident Type: CASE SOLVED Date: 9/20/2018 Town: MASARDIS Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins has been investigating a hit and run crash that occurred in Masardis last week. The Ashland Police Chief received a tip regarding the driver of the pickup that fled the scene. Chief Martin passed the information to Tr. Kilcollins and Tr. Kilcollins spoke with the male driver. At first the man stated the damage to his truck occurred when he struck it with his own tractor. Tr. Kilcollins had broken pieces of the truck he recovered when the crash first occurred and when confronted with the evidence he admitted he struck the car and did not stop because he was scared. The man was issued 4 separate criminal summonses relating to this incident.

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 9/20/2018 Town: WESTFIELD Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins was conducting traffic enforcement in Westfield. He observed a vehicle speeding and confirmed its speed to be 95-mph in a 55-mph zone. The driver was stopped and told Tr. Kilcollins he was in a hurry to get to Freightliner in Houlton to get two tractor trailer tires. The man was issued a criminal summons for exceeding the posted speed limit by 30-mph or more.

Incident Type: OVERDOSE INVESTIGATION Date: 9/21/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: TR. CASAVANT Brief Synopsis: On September 7, 2018 Trevor Tompkins, 30 years old of Ashland pled guilty to Aggravated Unlawful Trafficking of Schedule Drugs Resulting in Death (Class A). Tompkins received a sentence of 18 years of incarceration with all but 6 years suspended. He will also serve 4 years of probation after he is released. Tompkins was alleged to have sold a heroin and fentanyl mixture to David Sowers 41 years old of Mapleton in September of 2016 after Sowers was found deceased at his residence of an apparent overdose. Following a lengthy investigation by Tr. Nick Casavant who was assisted by Agents with Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Tompkins was indicted by an Aroostook County Grand Jury in April 2017.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 9/22/2018 Town: MONTICELLO Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli conducted a traffic stop on Rt. 1 in Monticello. As a result of the stop, Tr Pescitelli summonsed the 24 yo female operator for operating under suspension.

Incident Type: VIOLATION OF BAIL Date: 9/23/2018 Town: HOULTON Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: While conducting traffic enforcement on US Highway 1, Houlton, Tr. Duff observed a vehicle commit an infraction. Tr. Duff stopped the vehicle and discovered the male driver has a revoked Maine driver’s license and is currently on bail for operating after revocation. Tr. Duff arrested the man for operating after revocation and for being in violation of his conditions of release. The man was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. There was a female in the vehicle with a valid driver’s license and she took possession of the vehicle.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
