Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 155 calls for service over the past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is the Troop's weekly report:

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 7/30/2017 Town: Monticello Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins observed a vehicle driving north on US Highway 1, Monticello, pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed. Tr. Kilcollins activated his emergency lights to stop the vehicle but it refused to stop. Tr. Kilcollins was able to get the vehicle stopped in Monticello and the driver stated he did not see or hear Tr. Kilcollins’ emergency lights or siren. A consent search was done on the vehicle and no contraband was found. The man stated he and his passenger are contracted to work at Loring Commerce Center on computer equipment. The man was not arrested and was given a criminal summons for criminal speeding. Tr. Kilcollins was assisted by Sgt. Haines who was working a traffic detail in the area.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT Date: 8/04/2017 Town: Monticello Trooper: Cpl. Quint Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint responded to a crash involving an ambulance from Caribou. The ambulance was returning from a transport and was driving north on US Highway 1, Monticello. The driver stated he fell asleep, went off the road to the right, and struck a utility pole. The ambulance broke the pole completely at the base and dislodged a power transformer from the pole. The crash caused a power surge and majority of Monticello was left without power. US Highway 1 was shut down (both north and south bound lanes) for approximately 2 hours until the lines could be removed from the roadway. The ambulance had no patient on board at the time of the crash and the crew was not injured.

Incident Type: OUI Date: 8/03/2017 Town: Eagle Lake Trooper: Tr. Desrosier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle on the Ouellette Road, Eagle Lake, for a defective headlight. During the traffic stop Tr. Desrosier suspected the 37-year-old female driver was impaired. After conducting Field Sobriety Testing the woman was arrested for OUI and transported to Fort Kent PD for an Intoxilyzer test. The woman was able to post bail and was released.

Incident Type: OAS & Suspended Registration  Date: 8/03/2017 Town: Mapleton Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 163, Mapleton. During the course of the stop he discovered that the registration for the vehicle was suspended for toll violations. Tr. Kilcollins issued the driver a summons for operating with a suspended registration and traffic summons for operating after suspension. The driver was suspended for failing to make required payment of fines and costs. Tr. Kilcollins had the vehicle towed and the driver got a ride home with the wrecker.

Incident Type: OUI drugs Date: 8/04/2017 Town: Frenchville Trooper: Tr. Desrosier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle on US Highway 1, Frenchville, for a defective tail light. During the course of the stop Tr. Desrosier suspected the 24-year-old male was impaired. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana and failed Field Sobriety and AIRDE testing. The man was arrested and transported to Madawaska PD where he was able to post bail. A DRE was not available for this incident.

Incident Type: Harassment / OAS Date: 7/30/2017 Town: Frenchville Trooper: Cpl. Hafford Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Hafford responded to a harassment complaint in Frenchville which has been ongoing between neighbors for quite some time, resulting in multiple calls. The 43-year-old offender drove down US RT. 1, past the C1’s residence on a lawn mower, turned around in the street, then back to his house. The R1 then began arguing with the C1. R1 had been warned by Tr. Desrosier against any harassment, including needlessly driving by the C1’s house on his mower. Cpl. Hafford summonsed the male for harassment and also OAS for driving his riding mower on the street.

Incident Type: Criminal Speed Date: 7/30/2017 Town: New Canada Trooper: Cpl. Hafford Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Hafford was running stationary radar on Rt. 161 in New Canada. Cpl. Hafford locked a vehicle speed at 103 mph in a 50 mph zone. Cpl. Hafford issued a summons for criminal speed to the 34-year-old male.

Incident Type: Unauthorized use/ OUI Date: 8/05/2017 Town: Frenchville Trooper: Cpl. Hafford Brief Synopsis: On the above date, Cpl. Hafford received a call from a female that her brother was intoxicated and had taken her boyfriend’s pickup truck and drove off. Cpl. Hafford located the vehicle at a nearby grocery store and arrested the 39 year old male inside the store for unauthorized use, then transported him to Madawaska PD for an Intoxilyzer test. The male was then transported to ACJ.

Incident Type: Criminal Trespass Date: 8/05/2017 Town: Sherman Trooper: Tr. Adams Brief Synopsis: Tr. Adams responded to the Sherman Irving Station for a report of a male that would not leave the store after being told to leave and was becoming increasingly agitated. The male was spoken to by Tr. Adams and told to leave but he continued to refuse. The male was then arrested for criminal trespass. Upon search of the male it was discovered that he had Suboxone on his person and did not have a prescription. The male was booked into the Aroostook County Jail for Criminal trespass and Unlawful Possession of a Scheduled Drug.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 8/02/2017 Town: Washburn Trooper: Tr. Curtin Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin arrested a Connor man for operating after revocation after stopping him in Washburn for operating an ATV on a public way. The man had 29 previous license suspensions on his driving record.

Incident Type: BURGLARY Date: 7/25/2017 Town: Easton Trooper: Cpl. Michaud Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Michaud responded to a church in Easton when parishioners discovered the church had been burglarized overnight. Once forced entry was made it appeared that the thief or thieves stolen a computer, television, and a guitar. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Incident Type: THEFT Date: 8/04/2017 Town: Easton Trooper: Tr. Casavant Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant began a theft investigation in Easton. A local resident reported that a set of tires and rims had been stolen from his property. Leads have been developed in the case and the investigation is ongoing.

Incident Type: Operating Revoked/Criminal Speed Date: 8/04/2017 Town: Easton Trooper: Lt. Harris Brief Synopsis: Lt. Harris was traveling on the Conant Rd. in Easton and encountered a vehicle traveling at 80 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. Lt. Harris stopped the vehicle for the speeding violation and during the stop discovered that the male operator’s license was currently revoked. The male was charged with criminal speed and operating after revoked (four previous OAR convictions) and the vehicle was left in a nearby field while the operator made arrangements for licensed operator to pick it. A short time later, Lt. Harris was traveling back on the Conant Rd. to check on that vehicle and encountered a second vehicle traveling at 76 mph in a posted 45 zone in the exact same spot. Lt. Harris stopped the vehicle for the violation and male operator was summonsed for the speed.
