Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 168 calls for service this past week in Aroostook County and surrounding areas. Here is the Troop’s weekly report:

Incident Type: CASE SOLVED Date: 1/29/2018 Town: FORKSTOWN Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins has been investigating a burglary that occurred nearly a year ago, in Forkstown. During the initial investigation, he could obtain a fingerprint from a glass at the camp. Results from the fingerprints came back to a female from Houlton. Tr. Kilcollins located and interviewed the female who eventually admitted to being with a male when they broke into the camp. The male and female were both arrested for burglary and criminal mischief.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 1/29/2018 Town: SHERMAN Trooper: TR. STOUTAMYER Brief Synopsis: Tr Stoutamyer was working a Stonegarden detail on I-95 in Sherman. Tr Stoutamyer conducted a traffic stop on a Canadian driver and found that his license was under suspension. Tr Stoutamyer issued the male a summons and a licensed passenger drove from the scene.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 1/30/2018 Town: SAINT AGATHA Trooper: TR. DESROSIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle in Saint Agatha for a multitude of defects. During the traffic stop Tr. Desrosier discovered the male driver had a suspended driver’s license for failing to make required payment of fines and costs. Tr. Desrosier issued the man a summons for the violation and had the vehicle towed from the roadway.

Incident Type: CRIMINAL TRAFFIC SUMMONS Date: 1/30/2018 Town: WOODLAND Trooper: TR. LEVESQUE Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque responded to a crash in Woodland. During his investigation, he discovered the male driver did not have a valid driver’s license. Tr. Levesque furthered his investigation and learned that the owner of the vehicle knew the man did not have a valid license but allowed him to drive anyway. Tr. Kilcollins issued the driver a criminal summons for operating without a license and a criminal summons to the owner of the vehicle for permitting unlawful use.

Incident Type: ASSAULT Date: 1/30/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: TR. CASAVANT Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant responded to a Mapleton apartment complex for the report of an assault. An individual reported being assaulted by another resident of the complex in one of the common areas of the facility. Efforts to contact the offending party have been unsuccessful so a warrant for his arrest will be obtained.

Incident Type: THEFT / SCAM Date: 1/31/2018 Town: MARS HILL Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins is currently investigating a scam where Big Rock Transportation, Mars Hill, is the victim. The trucking company received a call from someone claiming to be from the Florida Highway Patrol and he told them one of their trucks was involved in a crash. The caller then put another person on the phone claiming to be from the wrecker company. The man told Big Rock they needed to pay $6000 to get their truck back on the road. The night dispatcher sent $6000 worth of electronic checks to the man. When the dispatcher asked to speak with the truck driver they were told he was not available. The next day Big Rock spoke with their driver and learned there was no crash and the man was sleeping in his truck at a truck stop in Florida. Tr. Kilcollins is following leads with this case and has been in contact with authorities in Florida.

Incident Type: SCAM / OAS Date: 1/31/2018 Town: HOULTON Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: A woman came into the Barracks reporting she has been scammed out of approximately $2100. Cpl. Quint spoke with the woman and she thought she had signed up to be a mystery shopper and was mailed a fraudulent check. She was instructed to deposit the check in her own account and later send a large portion of the money to a Walmart in Texas via Western Union. The bank told the woman the check was fraudulent and is requiring her to repay the funds. The email address where she sent her information to become a mystery shopper is listed as being from the United Kingdom. While at the Barracks it was discovered the woman has a suspended driver’s license. Cpl. Quint issued the woman a summons for the violation and helped her arrange for a ride home.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 2/01/2018 Town: SMYRNA Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: Tr. Duff stopped a vehicle on Interstate 95, Smyrna for a traffic violation. During the stop, it was discovered that the male driver had a suspended driver’s license for failing to make required payment of fines and costs. The man was issued a summons for operating after suspension and arranged to have a licensed driver to get him and his vehicle.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 2/01/2018 Town: PATTEN Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams conducted a traffic stop on Rt. 159 in Patten. As a result of the stop, Tr Adams summonsed the female operator for Operating after suspension.

Incident Type: CASE SOLVED Date: 2/02/2018 Town: HODGDON Trooper: CPL. QUINT/TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint arrested a Hodgdon man that is a suspect in two burglaries, one that Cpl. Quint is investigating that occurred in November and one Tr. Kilcollins investigated a couple weeks ago, where the man entered an elderly ladies home and stole her purse. The man denies involvement with either case but both Troopers have evidence against him. In Cpl. Quint’s case the man was charged with Receiving Stolen Property (class C). In Tr. Kilcollins case the man was charged with Burglary (class B) and Trespassing (class D). Cpl. Quint also charged another man with Receiving Stolen Property (class C) for his part in the November incident. Other charges are likely from the District Attorney’s office.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 2/02/2018 Town: BLAINE Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli conducted a traffic stop on Rt. 1 in Blaine. As a result of the stop, Tr Pescitelli summonsed the female operator for operating after suspension.
