Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 116 calls for service over the past week in and around Aroostook County. Here are the incidents posted in their weekly report:

Incident Type: CRIMINAL TRAFFIC SUMMONS Date: 1/22/2017 Town: Presque Isle Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque stopped a vehicle for driving without its headlights on at night (approximately 2200 hours) in Presque Isle. As he conducted the traffic stop he discovered the 21-year-old male driver had a suspended driver’s license in Rhode Island and only had an identification card in Maine. Tr. Levesque summonsed the man for Operating without a License.

Incident Type: OUI Date: 1/22/2017 Town: Saint Agatha Trooper: Tr. Desrosier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier responded to a crash involving a single vehicle and a horse in Saint Agatha. During his investigation Tr. Desrosier determined the man; a 56-year-old male from Sinclair was operating a Chevrolet sedan traveling south bound on Route 162 in Saint Agatha. As he traveled past a farm, two horses entered the roadway. The man could not avoid hitting one of the horses striking it and killing the animal. The man sustained cuts to his hand but refused medical treatment. Tr. Desrosier investigated the crash and as a result of his investigation arrested the male for Operating under the Influence. The owner of the horse was notified and the horse was removed from the roadway. It appeared that the horses had broken the barn door and walked down to the roadway. The car was a total loss. Incident Type: Residential Burglary Date: 1/23/2017 Town: Dyer Brook Trooper: Tr. Saucier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier began investigating a burglary on the Townline Rd in Dyer Brook. The residence is vacant and the shed was broken into last week and is being investigated by Cpl. Quint. Now the residence was entered and damage done inside. The case remains under investigation.

Incident Type: Criminal Traffic Summons Date: 1/25/2017 Town: T11 R4 Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque stopped a GMC pickup for an expired inspection. The driver, a 26-year-old male from Ashland, was issued a criminal summons for failing to register a motor vehicle beyond 150 days, operating defective motor vehicle (bad tires, frame and bed held on with a ratchet strap) and failure to display current certificate of inspection. Also the driver had a 6-year-old child who was not seat-belted and was riding on top of a center console. The truck was towed and someone came to get the occupants.

Incident Type: Traffic Complaint Date: 1/26/2017 Town: Sherman Trooper: Tr. Adams Brief Synopsis: The supervisor of the buses for Katahdin Elementary School called in a complaint that one of his drivers reported that as a child was crossing the road with all of the red lights flashing, a horse and buggy went through the lights. Tr. Adams spoke to the owners of the buggy about the complaint and explained the importance of stopping for school buses while the lights were flashing red. The people that Tr. Adams spoke to said that they would bring it up to the Elders to make sure that they all stop for school buses while the lights are flashing.

Incident Type: Attaching false plates Date: 1/27/2017 Town: Hodgdon Trooper: Tr. Bell Brief Synopsis: Tr. Bell was patrolling in Hodgdon when he observed an expired registration on a vehicle. The plate was run and found to be illegally attached. The suspect vehicle was stopped, and a summons was issued for attaching false plates.

Incident Type: Identity Theft Date: 1/27/2017 Town: Connor and Easton Trooper: Cpl. Michaud Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Michaud investigated two separate identity thefts one with Trac Phone and one through County Federal Credit Union. Both companies took the appropriate action to close the accounts and monitor the victim’s credit for further theft attempts by the foreign offenders.

Incident Type: DRE Activity Date: 1/27/2017 Town: Madawaska Trooper: Tr. Saucier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier was called to Madawaska to assist them with a DRE evaluation. The 35-year-old Fort Kent man was found to be suffering from mental health issues and not under the influence of intoxicants.
