Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 143 calls for service in and around Aroostook County this past week. Here are the incidents included in their weekly report:

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 8/21/2018 Town: BRIDGEWATER Trooper: SGT. CLARK Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark was patrolling in Bridgewater and observed a vehicle driving 89 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. Sgt. Clark stopped the vehicle and the man told him he was driving to Presque Isle for work. Sgt. Clark issued him a criminal summons for exceeding the posted speed limit by 30 mph or more.

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 8/21/2018 Town: WALLAGRASS Trooper: TR. DESROSIER Brief Synopsis: While on patrol in Wallagrass, Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle for criminal speeding, 81 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. The driver of the vehicle stated he did not have a reason for his excessive speed. Tr. Desrosier issued the man a criminal summons for violation.

Incident Type: FRAUD Date: 8/22/2018 Town: LUDLOW Trooper: TR. SYLVIA Brief Synopsis: Tr. Sylvia spoke with a Ludlow resident who reported some fraudulent charges on a credit card. The charges appear to be approximately $1,900. Tr. Sylvia is working with victim on the charges and the investigation is ongoing.

Incident Type: CRASH Date: 8/23/2018 Town: MASARDIS Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint was with a tractor trailer that had gone off the road in Oxbow after the driver had fallen asleep. While Cpl. Quint was investigating that accident, a second accident was reported that a vehicle went off the road in Masardis. Cpl. Quint went to that crash and the female driver stated she had left the mill and was driving north on Route 11. A trailer truck was in her lane, she over corrected, and her car began to slide. The woman stated the truck hit the rear of her car spinning her into a field. The driver of the truck did not stop. The woman was not injured in the crash. Cpl. Quint is still investigating this incident.

Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 8/24/2018 Town: HODGDON Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint arrested a woman who had a warrant for failing to appear in court for a fine hearing. The woman stated she had not received any information from the court and did not know there was a warrant for her arrest. The woman was cooperative.

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 8/24/2018 Town: ASHLAND Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli was patrolling Rt. 163 in Ashland and met a vehicle traveling at 79 mph in a 50-mph zone and turned on it, noticing that the vehicle was increasing in speed. Tr Pescitelli locked the highest speed at 96 mph and he pulled the vehicle over. The 19-year-old male operator was summonsed for criminal speed.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 8/24/2018 Town: WESTFIELD Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli ran a registration check on a vehicle that passed him and was told that the female owner/operator was under suspension. Tr Pescitelli was aware of the female and had stopped her previously for OAS. Tr Pescitelli stopped the car and the female was summonsed for OAS. A licensed driver arrived on scene and drove the vehicle away.

Incident Type: PUBLIC RELATIONS Date: 8/24/2018 Town: HOULTON Trooper: TR. BELL Brief Synopsis: Tr Bell participated in a “Touch a Truck” public relations detail, giving young people the opportunity to see Tr Bell’s cruiser and ask questions.

Incident Type: Date: 8/25/2018 Town: Houlton Trooper: LT. HARRIS, TR. STOUTAMYER, TR. SYLVIA, TR. BELL Brief Synopsis: The 3rd annual M.A.D.D walk was held in Houlton and was attended by Lt. Harris, Tr. Stoutamyer, Tr. Sylvia, Tr. Bell and Troop Secretary Vi Pelletier. Lt. Harris spoke at the event and he and Vi walked the course while Tr. Stoutamyer and Tr. Sylvia (and family) ran the race. This walk is organized by the sister of Darcie Hutchinson, who was killed by a drunk driver in 1996. The Barracks sits on land that was owned by the Hutchinson family and a portion of it was donated by the Hutchinsons in Darcie’s memory. The street the Barracks sits on is named Darcie Drive in honor of Darcie.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
