Incident Type: CASE SOLVED Date: 4/04/2017 Town: Mapleton Trooper: Tr. Casavant Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant responded to a motor vehicle crash with injury on Route 163 in Mapleton. Information was received that a male and female had fled the crash prior to Tr. Casavant responding. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a female passenger was trapped in the car with injuries. She was later transported to The Aroostook Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Through the course of the investigation, Tr. Casavant identified an Ashland man as the operator of the vehicle. He was also able to identify the second passenger as a female from Ashland. Tr. Casavant also learned the vehicle had been taken from the owner without permission in Ashland. On April 4, 2017 Trooper Casavant located and charged the male with Operating after Revocation, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Unauthorized Use of Property and Violation of Bail. Tr. Casavant also arrested the female on two outstanding warrants. MORE DETAILS HERE

Incident Type: CASE SOLVED Date: 4/06/2017 Town: Mapleton Trooper: Tr. Casavant Brief Synopsis: In September 2016, Tr. Nick Casavant responded to a residence in Mapleton reference a death investigation. A 41-year-old male was found deceased inside his residence. Evidence at the scene indicated the male’s death was possibly the result of an overdose of heroin and fentanyl. The Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled Sowers’ death as such. On April 6, 2017, after a lengthy investigation a 29-year old Ashland man was indicted by a grand jury in Aroostook County on a charge of Aggravated Unlawful Trafficking of Schedule Drugs Resulting in Death, a Class A crime in relation to the death. Tr. Casavant was assisted by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency throughout the investigation. MORE DETAILS HERE

Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 4/07/2017 Town: Danforth Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: While conducting an investigation Sgt. Clark and Tr. Kilcollins located a 30-year-old Danforth man hiding in a home that had two active warrants for his arrest. The warrants were for unpaid fines totaling approximately $1400. The man was taken to the Washington County Jail in Machias.

Incident Type: Criminal Traffic Date: 4/07/2017 Town: Mapleton Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque stopped a vehicle in Mapleton for a traffic infraction. During the stop he discovered the inspection certificate affixed to the vehicle belonged to another vehicle. Tr. Levesque issued the owner of the car a criminal summons for permitting unlawful use (the owner loaned the vehicle to the driver) and for displaying a fictitious inspection certificate.

Incident Type: ASSIST OTHER AGENCY Date: 4/09/2017 Town: Connor Trooper: Tr. Stoutamyer Brief Synopsis: Tr. Stoutamyer was contacted by Caribou PD Officer Craig Peterson who asked if he could check the driveways in the area of Connor for a stolen motor vehicle. Tr. Stoutamyer located the vehicle in a driveway and called Officer Peterson who responded to the scene. Arrested for the theft were a 28-year-old female of Caribou, and her 34-year-old husband, also of Caribou. Tr. Stoutamyer transported the female to the Caribou PD for Officer Peterson.
