The great state of Maine made national headlines earlier this week when a culprit known as the North Pond Hermit was apprehended for burglary, after reportedly living in wooded seclusion for nearly three decades.

The media circus surrounding this story sort of brought an end to a chapter of local folklore about a bizarre man living in the woods that was believed to steal from various campsites throughout the years as a means for his survival.

Incidentally, it is believed that the “Hermit,” also known as 47-year-old Christopher Knight, is responsible for more than 1,000 burglaries in order to maintain a food supply as well as other necessities.

Yet, while most of the media focused on reporting on this local legend, Maine photographer Troy Bennett decided, in between waiting for some phone calls to be returned, to write a song about Knight as a homage to downfall of the North Pond Hermit.

Bennett admits that while the tune is not all factual, and not necessarily the best song he has ever written, he feels confident that it will bring some level of enjoyment to anyone willing to give it a listen.
