Top-seed George Stevens Rolls To Semifinal Win Over Fort Kent [BOYS]

It took one quarter of basketball for the defending state champion George Stevens Academy Eagles to get rolling, but once they did, they didn't look back in their semifinal match-up against the Fort Kent Warriors.

No. 5 Fort Kent led by one point after the first quarter. But early in the second, top-seed George Stevens (19-1) regained the lead and kept it until the buzzer sounded with the Eagles on top 76-53.

The win gives the No. 1 Eagles a chance to play for the Class C north title on Saturday, when they will take on the No. 2 Fort Fairfield Tigers at 8:45 p.m. in Bangor.

Fort Fairfield Holds Off Mattanawcook To Advance [BOYS]

The Fort Fairfield Tigers advanced to the north region final with a 53-45 win over the Mattanawcook Lynx Friday night at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Senior Isaac Cyr led the Tigers with 24 points. In that effort, Cyr surpassed 1,000 points for his career.

Undefeated Houlton Pushed To The Limit By Central [GIRLS]

The undefeated Houlton Shiretowners were pushed to the limit Friday afternoon by the Central Red Devils, in a toe-to-toe battle at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The top-seed Shiretowners (20-0) held off No. 5 Central 41-38 to advance to the regional finals on Saturday against the Dexter Tigers.

The lead changed hands several times in the final three minutes before Houlton was able to seal the victory with some key free throws.

Senior standout Kolleen Bouchard led the Shiretowners with 21 points, leaving her 16 points shy of 2,000 points for her career. >>FULL STORY>>

Dexter Defeats Calais To Advance To Championship Saturday [GIRLS]

The Dexter Tigers defeated the Calais Blue Devils Friday afternoon to advance to the north regional final.

Both teams struggled offensively in the contest, but the No. 2 Tigers had enough firepower to come away with the 36-15 win earn a trip back to Championship Saturday.

Freshman Peyton Grant led the Tigers with 16 points. Another freshman, Avery Herrick, had 14 points in the win.

It was a frustrating night for the No. 6 Blue Devils, who had advanced to the semifinal with two upsets wins earlier in the week.The Dexter defense stymied Calais all afternoon, limiting the run-and-gun Blue Devils' offense to one shot on most possessions. >>FULL STORY>>
