It took three overtimes to decide the two regular season meetings between the Houlton Shiretowners and the Hermon Hawks, so it was only fitting their semifinal game Wednesday night in Bangor should go into extra time.

Just like the regular season contests, the Shiretowners eked out a victory over Hawks. This 47-43 overtime win, however, earned Houlton a trip to their third straight regional finals and a chance to defend their state title. >>GO TO STORY>>

The Foxcroft Ponies have a date on Championship Saturday after defeating the Presque Isle Wildcats in a Wednesday night semifinal at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Foxcroft built a double-digit lead in the second half on their way to an 37-25 victory over the No. 2 Wildcats.

The Orono Red Riots upset the top-seed Hermon Hawks Wednesday night, punching their ticket to the Northern Maine finals against MDI.

Orono kept the potent Hermon offense -- including junior standout Keenan Marseille with only six points -- in check a on the way to a 52-41 win.

The MDI Trojans held Central in check, stifling the Red Devils' offense and came away with a convincing semifinal win at the Cross Insurance Center on Wednesday.

No. 2 MDI controlled the game from the outset, building upon a narrow halftime lead to a 48-38 win and a trip to the Northern Maine finals.

The Calais Blue Devils' speed gave No. 2 George Stevens trouble at times, but when the buzzer sounded, the Eagles became the final team to advance to the Class C North semifinals.

Senior Morgan Dauk delivered an impressive performance, finishing with 31 points in the 49-40 win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor Wednesday morning.

Besides scoring, Dauk did everything from rebounding to defending to handling the ball in the win, which puts the Eagles (17-2) in a semifinal match-up against the Piscataquis Pirates. >>GO TO STORY>>

The Piscataquis Pirates advanced to the semifinal with a convincing win over the No. Woodland Dragons on Wednesday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The No. 3 Pirates, of Guilford, steadily built their lead throughout the contest leading 23-10 at the half and 40-15 after three quarters. When the buzzer sounded, Piscataquis left with a 53-21 win.

Junior Erin Speed led the Pirates with 21 points. Sophomores Alivia Hunt and Sara Almirante, an exchange student from Spain, added 13 and 10 points, respectively. >>GO TO STORY >>
