Maine gas prices have been holding fairly steady over the past few weeks and this week they edged lower by only .4 cents per gallon. The statewide average is at $2.272 per gallon, according to the price-monitoring website GasBuddy.com.

 

Nationally, gas prices were lower by two cents per gallon for a nationwide average of $2.205.

The lowest reported gas prices in Maine were in Bangor and Wells at $2.11 per gallong.

The country's lowest average gas prices are in Oklahoma at $1.945 per gallon. Missouri also averaged under $2 a gallon and South Carolina's average was right at $2 per gallon.

New Hampshire has the lowest average gas prices in New England at $2.183 per gallon.

New Jersey residents will see a sharp spike in gas prices are their state gas tax will rise 23 cents per gallon. Yikes!
