The UMaine Black Bears lost at Northeastern 5-3 Friday night and not only will the Huskies be the opponent tonight in the last game of the regular season but will also be the first round playoff opponent.

The Black Bears forced Northeastern goalie Ryan Ruck to make a career high 34 saves. Maine's Rob McGovern made 21.

Maine never did have a lead in the game after the Huskies scored twice in the first period. The Bears got goals from Andrew Tegeler and Will Merchant to tie it 2-2.

Two Huskie second period goals gave Northeastern a 4-2.

The Bears got to within one with a Cedric Lacroix goal in the third but the Huskies added an empty-netter to seal the win.

Northeastern in now unbeaten in 15 of its last 16 games ( 13-1-2) to remain one of the hottest teams in the country.

Maine drops to 5-14-2 in Hockey East, 8-21-6 overall.

NOTE: Maine and Northeastern play the season finale tonight and will meet next weekend in a best-of-three series with Maine a #11 seed and the Huskies #6.
