An Athens, Maine couple was arrested Thursday on cocaine charges. The custody of their children was turned over to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services

Police made the arrests while assisting a probation officer with a check on 26-year-old Tyler Watson. His wife, Tara Watson, 28, and two of their four children were also at the home during the visit. Police contacted the Maine Department of Health and Human Services who took custody of the children.

Troopers located 12 baggies of suspected crack cocaine, weighing seven grams with a street value of $1500. Also seized were 57 hypodermic needles, crack pipes and other drug paraphernalia, including scales and $248 in suspected drug proceeds.

The husband and wife were charged with Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (crack cocaine) Class B, Endangering the Welfare of a Child Class D, Possession of Hypodermic Apparatuses Class D and Sale and Use of Drug Paraphernalia Class E.

They were transported to the Somerset County Jail where bail was set at $50,000.

State Police Troop C Troop Detectives Blake Conrad, Reid Bond and Tr. Eric Bronson responded to the residence.
