The Machias Bulldogs broke open a huge lead in the third quarter, riding it to a convincing semifinal win over the defending regional champion Easton Bears.

The No. 2  Bulldogs outscored the No. 3 Bears 31-9 in the third quarter, finishing the game with a 68-37 win and a trip to the Class D Northern Maine finals on Saturday.

It's the first time in 22 years the Bulldogs will vie for the regional title.

Junior Jordan Grant led Machias with 19 points, 15 points in that impressive third quarter. Senior captain Mark Anthony had 15 points.

Senior Jacob Flewelling led the Bears with 18 points for the Bears.

Machias will play Southern Aroostook for the regional title on Sat., Feb. 25 at 10: 30 a.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
