On Saturday, March 16th a crowd of hundreds converged on the Caribou Inn & Convention Center to remember their friend and to raise money to help local youth achieve a higher education.

The night began with local band Common Crossing, along with Alysa Snow on fiddle, providing Irish music for ambience as friends and relatives perused the silent auction items.

The band then kicked into full force and the dance floor was packed the entire night.  T-shirts for the event were sold out early in the evening, and the celebration was on.  I say celebration because it truly reflected what Matt Turnbull was all about.

The event raised thousands and gave the scholarship fund a firm base to start from.  The event has already been scheduled for 2014 and looks to be an annual party.  The “Matt Turnbull Livin’ the Dream Scholarship Fund’ will benefit a Caribou High School senior entering the trades at Northern Maine Community College and a second year trade student at NMCC.
