Maine State Police say Ronald DuPont II was operating a 1985 Honda Goldwing motorcycle on the Hodgdon Mills Road shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control, went off the right side of the road and into the ditch. The crash caused the motorcycle to flip end-over-end and threw the driver from the machine. He was not wearing a helmet.

State police said DuPont called his wife and had her take him to the emergency room at Houlton Regional Hospital. A passerby reported the crash and Cpl. Dennis Quint responded. DuPont told Cpl. Quint that he was testing the motorcycle when the kickstand fell down, causing the crash.

He was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center via Life Flight Tuesday evening with what police called "serious but non-life threatening" injuries.

Sgt. Jeffrey Clark said in a news release that DuPont does not have a motorcycle endorsement on his Maine driver’s license. He is scheduled to appear in court in Houlton on October 24th.

The crash remains under investigation.
