The current King Crimson lineup has unveiled its new cover of the David Bowie classic "Heroes," in advance of the upcoming concert EP Heroes: Live in Europe 2016. You can listen to it above.

As previously reported, Crimson's take on "Heroes" is just one of several performances culled for the EP from the band's 2016 tour. Due June 2, the five-song set is meant to tide fans over until the group's next full-length release, a live album planned for later this year.

While readying that release, King Crimson are prepping for their first North American tour dates in several years. Dubbed the Radical Action tour, Crimson's next leg of shows is scheduled to begin June 11 in Seattle, where the band will perform through the 13th before embarking on a run of shows that will take them throughout the U.S. and Canada before concluding in Mexico City in mid-July.

Multi-instrumentalist Bill Rieflin, returning to the lineup after a sabbatical, told Rolling Stone that fans can expect to hear the group's classic catalog performed in what may, in essence, amount to an entirely new way. "A version of Crimson like this has never, ever existed," he argued. "It stands in the middle between the past and the future. The individual forces within the band might be predictable, but the interactions between them generate a rich, dynamic complexity. What we do is absolutely singular, and so that makes it quite exciting."

Rieflin also allowed that, while this incarnation of King Crimson may yet release new material, it probably won't be recorded in the studio. "I will say there's no momentum toward a studio recording," he hinted. "That doesn't mean that there won't be a recording of new material, but we might be looking for a different way to achieve it."
