Lawrence High School standout Nia Irving has been named Maine's Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year for a second straight year.

The 6-foot-1 senior averaged almost 26 PPG and 21 RPG leading her Bulldogs to a 21-1 record and an appearance in the Class A state title game.

Irving is one of three finalists for the Miss Maine Basketball Award. That announcement comes Friday night as part of McDonald's AllStar Weekend.

For her four-year career at Lawrence, Irving scored 1,761 points and 1,206 rebounds. She will play for Boston University next year.

Irving now becomes a candidate for National Gatorade Player of the Year. That award will be announced later this month.

Maine's boys Gatorade Player of the Years will be announced next week.
