UPDATE: Houlton Police reported Tuesday evening that a 34-year-old woman reported missing earlier this week has been found alive and was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

ORIGINAL POST:  The Houlton Police Department is asking for help from the public in locating a woman missing from the Bridge Street area in Houlton.

Police Chief Joe McKenna said that at 3:30 a.m. Monday, his department received a call from the woman's boyfriend, reporting her missing.

The woman, 34-year-old Cassandra Nicole Bell, is described as about 5’6” and 130 lbs. with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Chief McKenna said Tuesday that Bell's boyfriend returned to the home on Bridge Street around 1 a.m. Monday and discovered her missing. He called police after searching for Bell for more than 2 hours.

Bell was likely wearing black tennis shoes with a pink outline, but it's not known what clothing she was wearing. The woman was also believed to be carrying a large gray purse, McKenna said.

Maine State Police and the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office have also joined the investigation. A K-9 unit and a Border Patrol helicopter have also been used in the search.

McKenna said Bell has family in the Sanford area in southern Maine and police want to be able to tell the family that she is safe.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cassandra Bell is asked to call the Houlton Police Department at (207) 532-2287.
