The Boston Red Sox will be without both Carson Smith and Brock Holt for the weekend and beyond.  Smith was placed on the 15 day disabled list, while Holt is now on the 7 day concussion disabled list as well.  Blake Swihart and Noe Ramirez were both recalled from Pawtucket to fill out the 25-man roster.

Smith had just recently returned from an injury he suffered in Spring Training and made just three outings from the bullpen before heading back.  He allowed just one unearned run with two hits and a walk allowed.  Holt, who has posted a .239 average with three home runs and 19 RBIs, finds himself on the 7-day injury list which is retroactive to May 19th.  The utility player was named an All Star for his efforts last season.

Swihart has been playing left field in Triple A and opened the season in the Red Sox line-up, batting .278 before his demotion.  He will likely see most of his time filling in left field as opposed to being behind the plate.  Ramirez has also spent time in Boston with the Red Sox, appearing in nine games with a 5.79 ERA in 2016 in the majors.

The Boston Red Sox will start a three game series with the Cleveland Indians starting tonight at 7:10 p.m.  The pitching match-up will feature Corey Kluber taking on Clay Buchholz.
