The Town of Hartland, New Brunswick and the Hartland Potato Festival are accepting nominees for the The Barney Delong Award for Volunteerism.

Officials say volunteerism enriches the community and makes many activities and resources available that would not otherwise exist.

The Town of Hartland commits to recognizing and celebrating outstanding volunteer service. During the Annual Potato Festival, tribute is paid to an individual "who went above and beyond and exemplifys the true potential of volunteers to make a difference in their communities."

The Barney Delong Award is used to honor someone who is dedicated to volunteering within the local community. This can be someone who volunteers time with a local school, government entity, or non-profit organization.

2016 nominations are now being accepted for this award that will be presented during the Town's Annual Potato Festival July 26th- August 1.

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Exemplify the spirit of community service.
  • Make an outstanding contribution to the community through volunteer service.
  • Demonstrate exceptional commitment, service, creativity, cooperation, or leadership.
