It's always great when local, state, or federal governments give 'We the People' a break on fees. Governor Paul LePage is giving Maine residents a break at state parks.

USNews reports that the governor's office said that day use fees will be waived for residents in Maine State Parks from Saturday, August 11 through Labor Day.

The governor says it's his way of saying 'thank-you' to the public after record-breaking attendance levels that began in 2010 and is urging residents to take advantage of the opportunity to visit a Historic Site or Maine State Park during this time.

There are a few parks where the waiver is not acceptable to include Fort Knox, Baxter State Park, and Scarborough Beach State Park.

Also, Federal sites are exempt and the waiver does not include camping fees.
