Gasoline Ignites Fire at Washburn Garage
One man escaped without injury when a fire ripped through a garage in Washburn Friday afternoon.
Washburn Fire & Rescue responded to the fire at 4 Washburn Road at 2:25 p.m. Crews arrived to find the garage fully involved. Presque Isle and Mapleton Fire Departments also provided mutual aid.
According to Washburn Fire Chief Nate Allen, the owner was working on a vehicle in the garage when hot metal came in contact with gasoline and ignited. The man was able to get out without injury.
Fire crews remained on site until about 5 p.m. Friday. The garage was a total loss.
