Gas Prices Back on the Rise
Prices at the pump in New England have begun to climb again.
In its daily survey of gas stations in Maine, GasBuddy.com found that regular gasoline has gone up 4.6 cents to an average $2.50 a gallon. Most stations in Presque Isle were showing a price of $2.68 a gallon Monday morning.
Meanwhile, next door in New Hampshire, pump prices there went up just 1.5 cents to $2.48 a gallon. And Vermont's prices rose 2.5 cents to an average $2.53 a gallon.
The national average climbed 6.5 cents a gallon this past week to $2.53 a gallon. That's 3.8 cents higher than last month and 32 cents a gallon higher than last year at this time.
GasBuddy says contributing factors in the higher prices were a major pipeline leak, oil prices hitting a new high and a higher demand for gas late in the season.
