The crash happened on Highway 105 in Douglas, New Brunswick at around 10 p.m., according to West District RCMP.

The woman was travelling east towards Fredericton when she lost control of her vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic, police say.

Three vehicles travelling west toward Keswick Ridge were also involved in the crash. RCMP say the first vehicle–a truck– struck the woman’s vehicle on the passenger side. The second vehicle slowed down and was struck from behind by the third westbound vehicle.

Police say the woman was taken by ambulance to the Saint John Regional Hospital and later passed away from her injuries.

No injuries were reported by the other drivers. Police believe extreme weather conditions were a contributing factor in the crash. Roads were snow-covered at the time.

The investigation is ongoing.
