Planetarium Director Larry Berz says the center, which has been operating for over 30 years, will be forced to close its doors on January 1st without the necessary funding.

Saturday's open house runs from 10-3 and includes a Digital Planetarium demonstration with Eric Melenbrink of Ash Enterprises. The new digital planetarium technology allows an expanded range of educational and entertaining subjects.

The Science Center will also offer a live animal display with Emma from the Chewonki Group. Model rocket launches, interactive displays in the lobby, and light refreshments will be some of the features during Saturday's free event.
