Four arrests were made Monday evening and a large amount of heroin was seized at an Augusta motel room by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Augusta Police.

The MDEA investigated reports of drug trafficking from a room at the Augusta Inn on Edison Drive.

Over 350 grams of heroin, with a street value of more than $70,000 was seized after agents searched one of the motel rooms, said Stephen McCausland, Maine Public Safety Spokesman. A small amount of crack was also taken, plus $3,852 in cash which is believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Four people were present when agents arrived. They were arrested and taken to the Kennebec County Jail.

Alex Kanaris, 27, of Sidney – bail is $150,000

Andrew Redmond, 29, of Augusta – bail is set at $100,000

Krystle Clark, 27, of Sidney – bail is set at $100,000

Danielle Violette, 27, of Augusta – bail is set at $100,000

The charges for the four suspects was with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs, based upon the quantity of the drugs involved, said McCausland. They were expected to make an appearance in Kennebec Unified Court on Wednesday.
