The drugs, with a street value of over $140,000, were destined to be resold in York County and in greater Brunswick, according to MDEA Commander Scott J. Pelletier.

Arrested for Aggravated Trafficking in a Scheduled Drug (Cocaine) are Nathan Frechette, 39, of Sanford, Maine; Yarlin Garcia, 24, and Pedro Igyedi, 21, both of Lowell, Mass.; and Luis Rosario-Diaz, 21, of Lawrence, Mass.

A two-month investigation by the MDEA revealed that the drugs were coming into Maine from Lawrence and Lowell, Massachusetts. The group would sell coke and heroin by the pound to Frechette in Sanford, who would then resell the drugs, Pelletier said.

On Tuesday afternoon, agents searched Frechette’s residence at 19 Nason Street in Sanford and seized drugs, a handgun, a sawed off shotgun and over $35,000 dollars in suspected drug proceeds. Frechette was arrested and transported to the York County Jail.

Late Tuesday night, the three men from Massachusetts were arrested at they arrived in Frechette’s home from Lowell. Agents found 1 1/4 pounds of cocaine and over 1 1/2 pounds of heroin/fentanyl hidden in the engine compartment of their rental vehicle. Garcia, Igyedi and Rosario-Diaz were also taken to the York County Jail.

Bail for all four men was set at $50,000 cash. Additional charges are likely once drug testing has been completed on the heroin.

Working with MDEA on this case was the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, State and Sanford Police and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division.
