It is official now...the 2014 Boston Red Sox are eliminated from any chance at post-season. Wednesday afternoon's 10-6 loss to Baltimore finished all the mathematical possibilities.

Brandon Workman gave up six runs in the third inning, Craig Breslow gave up two more run over the next couple of innings and the Birds were on their way to a three game sweep of the Sox.

Maine native Ryan Flaherty had four hits and two RBI for the Birds.

The Sox scored five times in the bottom of the ninth to make the game look closer than it was.

At 63-83, the Red Sox are now 23 1/2 games behind first place Baltimore.
