Minto RCMP responded to the fire Thursday morning at the Forever Young Special Care Home on Shore Road in Clarks Corners, New Brunswick.

First responders discovered what appeared to be a marijuana growing operation in the basement of the building. RCMP executed a search warrant and seized 550 marijuana plants, marijuana growing equipment, and a large quantity of processed marijuana. Police said the plants seized could have potentially produced up to 275,000 joints.

Officials believe the fire was related to the grow operation. All the residents of the home made it out safely. The investigation continues.
