Fire Destroys Duplex on Skyway Street in Presque Isle
The State Fire Marshal's Office and Presque Isle Police Department are investigating a fire that heavily damaged a duplex in Presque Isle Sunday night.
The Presque Isle Fire Department responded to the blaze at 290 Skyway Street shortly after 9:00 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Adam Rider. Twenty firefighters worked to bring the fire under control and remained on site until just before midnight.
Rider said there was extensive damage to one side of the duplex. The tenants all made it out of the building safely. The rental property is owned by Geary Bonville.
Senior Investigator Tim Lowell of the Maine Fire Marshal's Office arrived at the property Sunday night and remained until the early hours Monday. Lowell said the exact cause of the blaze has not been determined at this point in the investigation.
