The Mars Hill Fire Department responded to the blaze at 13 Silver Street shortly after 2 p.m. Fire Chief Darrell Wilson tells us the people in the home made it out safely. There were no injuries.

About 25 firefighters worked to quickly contain the blaze, Wilson said. Crews had to peel back a metal roof to get at the flames in the attic of the single-story house. There was no damage to nearby homes. Firefighters were on site for about two hours Sunday.

Chief Wilson said the house appears to be a total loss. The State Fire Marshall's office will be investigating on Tuesday to determine the cause of the fire.

Crown Ambulance also responded to the scene. Bridgewater Fire Department covered at the Mars Hill Station.
