State Police say a man was killed last night when he was struck by a truck as he was snow-blowing his driveway in the Washington County town of Topsfield.

According to police, Corporal Micah Perkins responded to the fatal crash that was reported about 5:30 pm after a 2001 GMC Jimmy lost control on snow covered Route 1, as it was traveling north.

The vehicle struck Edgar Rhoades, 59, of Topsfield who had been using his snow-blower at the end of his driveway. Rhoades was killed instantly, said police.

The driver of the truck ,John Moholland, 46, of Princeton was checked for shoulder pain and released by EMS at the scene. There was also a female passenger in the vehicle who was not injured.  Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, police said.

It was snowing at the time of the crash and weather and road conditions will be factors.  Sgt. Jeffrey Ingemi, Trooper Chad Lindsey, Indian Township Fire and Rescue along with Calais Fire/EMS also responded.
