Farrell Has Hernia Surgery

Red Sox manager John Farrell is watching tonight's game from his hotel room in Miami after undergoing hernia surgery Monday in Detroit.

Farrell spent Monday night in the hospital in Detroit, flew to Miami during the day, came to the ballpark and held is usual pregame session with the media while standing up.

Shortly afterward, it was decided he would go back to the hotel and rest.

Bench coach Tory Lovullo is running the club.
