The West District RCMP is investigating an armed robbery Friday afternoon at a garage in Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska that left one person seriously injured.

Officers from the Saint-Léonard detachment were called to Paul Bard's Garage on the Titus Road at around 3:30 p.m., according to Cpl. Matthieu Gauthier. Police say an employee had been struck in the head with an unknown object and suffered serious head injuries. The individual was taken to hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Police say an undisclosed amount of cash was taken in the robbery.

The RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in locating a person of interest who was seen several times near the garage in the past few weeks. The man is described as a being in his early 20s with long hair. He was driving a small red vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.

Le District de l'Ouest de la GRC enquête sur un vol à main armée survenu à Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska lors duquel une personne a été blessée.

Le 11 mai 2018, vers 15 h 30, des membres du Détachement de Saint-Léonard se sont rendus au garage Paul Bard sur le chemin Titus. Un employé a été blessé grièvement quand il a été frappé à la tête avec un objet. L'homme repose dans un état stable.

Une somme d'argent a été volée.

La GRC sollicite l'aide du public pour retrouver une personne d'intérêt qui a été vue aux abords du garage dans les dernières semaines. Il s'agit d'un jeune homme au début de la vingtaine avec les cheveux longs. Il conduisait un petit véhicule rouge.

L'enquête se poursuit.
