The city's backing of the project is conditional on a financial commitment from the federal and provincial governments, according to Acadie Nouvelle.

The new building would seat 2,800 people and could accommodate concerts, fairs, community events as well as hockey and other sporting events. The site chosen is a field located near the Cité des Jeunes and college and university campuses in Edmundston. The same area also includes a sports hall, swimming pool, soccer field and a synthetic surface.

The financial commitment from the municipality would not exceed $3.5 million for the new amphitheatre.   That would include $1 million from the sale of the land of the former Edmundston Forum and fundraising of $2.5 million that will be launched in the region.

According to economist André Leclerc, nearly 400 jobs will be created during construction and 200 direct and indirect jobs once the amphitheater is in full operation.
