Fly the W! As improbable as these words once seemed, the Chicago Cubs are World Series champions this morning after winning an extra inning thriller over the Cleveland Indians in Game 7 last night (Nov. 2). And for many longtime Cubs fans, this has been a moment decades in the making.

The Cubs ended a 108-year drought between championships, meaning that almost all Cubs fans have never seen a title in their lifetime. Among those is Eddie Vedder, the Pearl Jam singer, who has been one of the most visible celebrity fans. Vedder has thrown out the first pitch, spoken with the team and partied with them in the clubhouse, sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th Inning Stretch and taken part in Chicago Cub-related charitable events over the last few years. As such, he's developed a close bond with the team and was spotted frequently during the band's playoff run.

Vedder notably sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" as a bit of a unique duet with the voice of late broadcaster Harry Caray during Game 5 of the World Series in Chicago, a must-win game that the Cubs needed to stay alive. He's been spotted often with fellow celebrity Cub fans Bill Murray and John Cusack throughout the playoffs.

As expected, there has been an outpouring of congratulations for the Chicago Cubs team for pulling off the long-awaited championship. See photos and social media posts about the Cubs win below.
