The Southeast District RCMP received a call reporting the crash shortly before 7 a.m., after a car and pick-up truck collided on the Cocagne Bridge, according to Cpl. Dan Poirier.

The driver and lone occupant of the car, a 73-year-old man from Cape Spear, New Brunswick, died at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the truck was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, Poirier said.

The cause of the fatal crash is under investigation. Police believe slippery road conditions were a factor in the collision.
