A seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Houlton Monday morning sent one man to the hospital.

Maine State Police responded to the crash in the northbound lanes just after 11 a.m. Police say 45-year-old Ricki Hammond of Washburn was driving a 2003 Chevrolet passenger car and was attempting to pass a loaded fuel tanker truck from H.O. Bouchard.

The car lost traction and went to the left side of the highway, striking a guardrail. Hammond’s vehicle then slid under the fuel truck trailer wheels. The car ended up in the middle of the road.
